Shutdown updates in XP Annoyances

Hey, guys. You know how when you shutdown, sometimes you get those special updates that only install when you turn off the computer? Is there any way how to install those updates without actually turning it off? I'm trying to see how long I can keep my computer on without crashing (so far I'm up to 300 hours) and it's still running great, i see no point in dealing with the "install updates now" dialog boxes.

The reason for the reboot is that some files are in use and shutting them off would affect the existing session.

well, I can understand that, something could interfere with the I guess it's a complex update. I'm going to see if I can make it to 500 hours and THEN reboot
